These picks are made from vintage casein (pre-1970). Unfortunately, no casein is being made today that looks anything like this anymore. Once this material is gone, it’s gone. I only have a single sheet of this Brown Cow Casein, and I’ll only be able to make around 20 picks from it—maybe a few more, maybe a few less.
The color pattern is mostly cream with rich brown marbling—sometimes subtle, sometimes bold. No two are alike, which is part of the charm. Some look like the side of a Guernsey or Jersey cow. Like all the casein picks in the shop, these have a tortoise-like tone with a touch more warmth and a lot less pick noise.
